Let’s keep it in english since this is kind of needed.
Also if you mention jelly bean, kit kat and other crap names here, please do not come back. I only use version numbers not names. I do not know what those names are and if you use them to motivate something I will delete your comment.
After a few fails, I finally managed to do it. Android 4.4 on my Defy+.
I had CM11 and MIUI. CM11 is fast. Very fast. Miui also fast and nice. But too much chinese in there.
Had issues with Google Apps. I could not install it properly and make them work. This is probably the biggest problem. Also the phone is seen as MB525+ which probably does not really exist thus making installing apps impossible from google play.
For MIUI, which is eye candy, but not that interesting, look for xioami miui on google. You have there some steps on how to install it.
For CM11 check the following link: Android 4.4 build on XDA Forums. The first post has the links and tutorials. But for the steps, I would recommend mine.
Battery at 100%. Not kidding at all. Do not read further if not. While updating and flashing the phone will not be able to charge even if you plug it in. Trust me on this.
Seetings-> Apps -> Development-> Unknown sources checked and also USB debugging checked.
Download the following to your phone sd card: Please have and sd card installed with enough free space 🙂
TWRP : They say get it from Google Play Store. I found it as an APK file.
All these three files from above have an apk extension. Which kind of means that they can be clicked on and installed. If they are zipped, please look inside the zip si if there is only onle file with APK, then extract it. .
Also download from the first link the android build. The links are for nightly releases which are test releases. And they are kind of unstable. If you find some stable ones, please let me know. Anyway, 20140727 build seems to be stable enough for daily use. So they say : )
So with all the files copied to the SD card, we can proceed.
1. Using the built in file browser, go to framaaroot app and install it.
Open it and press Gimli button. Reboot the phone after all done.
2. Install SndInit. Open it and press the button on the middle of the screen. You will get a message when done.
3. Now for TWRP. If you find it in Google Play, install it from there. Else let’s install it locally.
4. Reboot the phone and press key down when the blue led appears. You get into SndInit menu. Select Install zip from SDCARD and select TWRP. Install and reboot.
When the blue led appears again press Vol Down again. Now select Recovery -> Custom Recovery. You should now get into TWRP. Select Wipe -> Advanced Wipe and select all EXCEPT sdcard. (system, data, cache, dalvik cache)
Apply the wipe.
Go to main menu and select Install. Select the file from the sdcard like cm11-20140807-nightly.zip.
Apply the install by sweeping the bar on the bottom.
Let it finish.
5. Reboot the phone and you should now enjoy your Android 4.4 CM11.
The only problem remaining is Google Play.
Try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/standard-minimal-gapps-t2012857
Maybe you’re lucky enough to make it work.
6. Later edit:
Look for this: 7-29_GApps_Minimal_4.4.4_signed.zip
They worked. :))
In case of disaster, let me know. Basically you will need an original version of the Android and RSD Lite program. Google for them.
In case you cannot do even this due to low/dead battery, then bad luck 🙂 There is a way still. But this for another time.
